Description

Sulfur is an essential element for plants, but it is often overlooked by fertilizers. Its functions are multiple: it participates in the formation of amino acids, proteins, enzymes, vitamins, chlorophyll, and sulfur organic compounds; it improves the quality of agricultural products and resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses; it promotes nitrogen fixation in legumes. Without sulfur, plants cannot grow and develop optimally.

The lack of sulfur manifests itself with symptoms such as chlorosis, dwarfism, delayed flowering, and reduced branching. These symptoms result in a loss of yield and crop quality. Sulfur deficiency is more common in sandy, acidic soils with low organic matter and high rainfall or irrigation.

Sulfur is involved in numerous physiological and biochemical processes in plants. For example, it is necessary for the synthesis of cysteine and methionine, two essential amino acids for the production of many proteins. All enzymes require sulfur, including RuBPC, which fixes carbon dioxide. Sulfur is also essential for chlorophyll synthesis, the composition of vitamins and membrane lipids, and redox reactions in cells. Additionally, sulfur plays a key role in stress resistance and nodule formation for nitrogen fixation by legumes.

To provide sulfur to plants effectively and practically, SKL offers two very interesting products: LENTISOL 90, based on sulfur and bentonite, and LENTISOL 99. These are two products based on micronized elemental sulfur in the form of lentils, which are easy and practical to distribute and quickly oxidize in the soil. Experiments have shown that sulfur increases the yield and quality of wheat and forage. Sulfur also has a positive interaction with nitrogen, increasing nitrogen utilization efficiency and reducing the risk of environmental losses.
