SALIX SPP. CORTEX

INDUCER OF CROP SELF-DEFENSE MECHANISMS WITH FUNGICIDAL ACTION

Composition

Willow Bark powder 100%
Purity European Pharmacopoeia
Totally natural dehydrated plant matrix obtained by micronizing willow bark

Description

The Willow Bark SKL is presented in the form of dehydrated plant matrix, completely natural, obtained from the micronization of willow bark, a common tree in Europe, Asia, and North America.

It is rich in various compounds, particularly polyphenols and salicylic acid. Its use has long been established in practices of Organic Agriculture and Biodynamic Agriculture as support for crop self-defense mechanisms against fungal adversities. The use of dehydrated powder gives the product greater shelf life.

It is approved as a Basic Substance with fungicidal properties under the EU agricultural regulation on pesticides (Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009) since 2015. Currently, its approved uses are for arboriculture and viticulture.

An evaluation is currently underway by the EU regulatory assessment organization to allow nurseries to use it as a plant growth regulator. The Willow Bark helps cuttings to root, thanks to its content of indole-3-butyric acid, a growth hormone (plant growth regulator) belonging to the auxin family and generally chemically synthesized for this purpose. Recently, fungicidal uses for the horticultural market (tomatoes, berries, and kiwi) have been submitted for evaluation by the European Commission.

Preparation method:

For the use of the product, the following procedure is required:

  1. Add 200 g of Willow Bark to 30 liters of water at a temperature of 80°C and let it infuse for 2 hours.
  2. Followed by filtration, adjusting the pH to 6.2.
  3. Then dilute the preparation 3 times, bringing it to about 90 liters.

The theoretical concentration of Willow Bark present in the final solution applied to the plants will be approximately 2.22 g/l. The resulting preparation must be used within 24 hours to avoid potential microbiological contamination. Application with high temperatures is not recommended.
